Abigail’s Trip to Fuerteventura

Travelling during the pandemic and what to expect.

My partner and I have just returned from Fuerteventura from a 7-night holiday. I was very much looking forward to travelling and my experience outdid my expectations. Travelling during the pandemic was stress free and easy.

We flew from Birmingham airport where all COVID-19 restrictions were met as expected, masks are mandatory throughout Birmingham airport and on the aircraft, this was enforced well by airport staff and Jet2holidays cabin crew. When arriving at Fuerteventura, our Spanish locator forms and Vaccine certificates were checked thoroughly by staff, as well as random temperature checks which took place.

On arriving in Fuerteventura, we felt a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere around the resort and within shops, bars, and restaurants. Masks are mandatory walking around the hotel complex and indoors. We found all shops and bars to be open and it was amazing to see them all thriving.

Planning for our return was very simple as we pre-ordered in resort lateral flow tests which we were able to do ourselves and receive our negative certificate with a QR code. We completed our passenger locator forms 48 hours before arrival in the UK.

On return to the UK, we completed our day 2 PCR tests which we pre ordered before travel and used on our passenger locator forms.

I would 100% recommend people to travel currently, but just ensure you understand the travel requirements in place for your destination on the UK Government website.
